The Palio delle Botti

3 May and 13 August A challenging race that requires strength and skill and involves teams of “rollers” who have to push empty 500-litre wooden barrels along the paving of Suvereto's old centre. The event is part of the national Città del Vino circuit. There are two occasions for attending this event: the Palio di Santa Croce in spring; and the Palio dell'Imperatore on 13 August.

Note of Vermentino

End of June In the Cloister of San Francesco, on the last weekend of June, an event dedicated to wine and music. The evenings feature Vermentino tastings and dinner with fish dishes, all accompanied by live music.

Medieval evenings

Giuly A magical atmosphere descends onto the village and everything goes back in time. Gentle lighting, torches, candles and costumed villagers feature in ancient craft rituals. Euros are exchanged for ancient Suvereto coins, and the village streets come alive with musicians and jugglers. The most eagerly awaited event is the Medieval Wedding: the bride arrives on horseback at the Town Hall, where the mayor celebrates a true legal marriage before the festive wedding celebration in the cloister of San Francesco.

Calici di Stelle

10 August On December 31st Suvereto bids farewell to the year that is ending and welcomes the new one with a food and wine festival in the streets of the town. Street food and dinners in the venues enriched by local wines and particular recipes, all enlivened by traveling music with a grand finale in the square with DJ sets and fireworks shows.

The Borgo dei Ragazzi

End of September For one Sunday at the end of September, Suvereto becomes a location dedicated exclusively to children and young people. Workshops and sociable occasions feature in the alleys, streets and squares of the village, focusing on various themes such as games, health, music, sport, art, crafts with reflection on the brotherhood between populations, human solidarity and different cultures.

Sagra del Cinghiale

End of November - beginning of December This is the popular festival that for almost half a century has enlivened the Suvereto community between the end of November and the first ten days of December thanks to the commitment and passion of the Ente Valorizzazione Suvereto. Today it is a cultural event deeply rooted in local culinary traditions linked to his highness the boar, the Maremma's symbol of identity. Powerful and genuine flavours accompanied by freshly pressed oil and local wines. Everything revolves around the giant barbecue in the square. There are many events dedicated to local culture, art, history and society, with exhibitions, meetings and conferences.

Calici di San Silvestro

31 December On 31 December, Suvereto says goodbye to the year that is drawing to a close and welcomes the new year in finest taste, with a culinary festival inspired by local wines and special recipes. On-the-road tastings, New Year’s Eve dinner, street theatre, music and entertainment for children. Grand finale with fireworks.
