Splendid Solitude

A circuit that explores the magic of the area between Sassetta and Suvereto. A land of woodcutters and charcoal burners, where the forest represents a natural habitat that is still intact for a community that has always lived in symbiosis with Mother Nature. You can stop at Terme della Cerreta, a wellness location with hot spa water immersed in the peace of the Sassetta woods. The route to Sassetta follows the beautiful Prata and Annunziata roads, while the return route runs along a beautiful dirt road through the Poggio Neri park before heading back to Suvereto.

Route: Suvereto, Prata, Sassetta, Parco di Poggio Neri, Suvereto

Distance: 27 km

Elevation gain: 450 m

Time required: 2-3 hours

Difficulty: moderate

Route surface type: asphalt and dirt track

Bikes: MTB and Gravel

Refreshment stops: Suvereto, Prata, Sassetta

Notes: the route is mainly on asphalt, but there is an approximately 9 km stretch on dirt track: in any case the track is good for cycling, with a crushed rock surface. Care is necessary on the first downhill section towards Casetta Fiorentina (the dirt track starts near Monte Ceci heading towards I Colli farm). There are opportunities for refreshments on the route, but it is a good idea to bring sufficient drinking water (at least one flask).
